Academic Advising for your Success

Navigating college can be tough — from figuring out which classes to take to learning how to register and then adjusting to more challenging academic work.

You’re not alone! And you don’t have to figure it out on your own either. You have knowledgeable, caring and professional advising and services here to help.

We’ve put as many forms, instructions and resources on this site as we can for easy access, for those who prefer to do their own research and so that you can take a leadership role in planning your education.

But that doesn’t mean we expect you to know all this already. Your advisors are here to work with you every step of the way.

About Academic Advising

Academic Advising at Seattle University is more than just an appointment to discuss classes. Advising is a partnership between students and their advisor and focuses on collaboration, strategic planning, and identifying individual goals.

Academic advising is available across all colleges and programs. Students have an assigned academic advisor as well as a program-specific advising center to help cover all your advising needs:

How to Schedule an Advising Appointment

Most advising centers use Bookings to schedule. Visit your advising center’s webpage and find the advisor/staff page. You’ll book your advising appointment through Slate.

You may be required to meet with your advisor before registering for classes, so be sure to check with your advising center. Sometimes slots are limited, and preferred times may fill up fast so make sure to schedule your appointment early!

If you are unsure how to schedule an appointment, contact your advising center or email your adviser directly.
